What is a DonorScore™?

A DonorScore™ serves the same purpose in the nonprofit sector as a credit score in the financial world.
Just as a lender minimizes risk by making a decision based on a score, fundraisers make campaign segmentation decisions based on a DonorScore™ to protect net income.
A DonorScore™ is a numeric value between 0 – 1,000 that signifies how likely a donor is to take a certain action.  This number is derived through a scientific predictive modeling process that analyzes your donors’ behavior and predicts future actions that they are likely, or not likely, to take.
For example, a large health organization needed help identifying the best donors to target for a monthly giving (sustainer) invitation.  A large segment of their file was scored against the DirectSelect™ Sustainer model.   An output file was returned to them with four fields.  Below is a sample of the output:

DonorScore™ (highlighted in yellow) was used as the segmentation criteria in the donor selection process to identify the best donors to mail a sustainer invitation package.
Has your donor file been scored?  If not, the process is simple (and better, it’s free).  Click to learn more about the MAAP or the Masterfile Audit & Action Plan.
